This web site represents the joint initiative of the Home Office, Association of Police Officers (ACPO), The UK Recycling Industry and the UK Telecommunications Industry (MICAF) to stop the UK recycling industry being used as a conduit to dispose of stolen mobile phones.
The project has seen the development of a Code of Practicethat is aimed at presenting a set of tools to recyclers that will enable them to carry out due diligence on mobile phones that are offered to them for recycling to ensure that devices that have been obtained illegally through theft or other crimes are easily identified and the processes are in place to deal with such items in accordance with UK law.
Recyclers who are not signed up to this code of practice are encouraged to do so and for further details may contact the membership secretary:- tuff@tuff.co.uk
RECYCLERS, WHO ARE NOT SIGNED UP TO THIS CODE OF PRACTICE, SHOULD NOT CLAIM TO BE MEMBERS OF THE FORUM AND SHOULD NOT DISPLAY IMAGES OR OTHER APPLICATIONS ON THEIR WEB SITES TO GIVE AN IMPRESSION OF MEMBERSHIP.
